Patron & Attendee Guide

Welcome to Big White Spot! Whether you are at a pub, club, dating event, or community gathering, Big White Spot helps you discover who is in the room, break the ice, and connect with people around you in real time.

1 Joining a Venue Room

  • Scan the QR Code: Scan the QR code displayed on venue tables, bar counters, posters, or flyers using your smartphone camera.
  • In-Venue Geofence Check: Grant temporary browser location access to confirm you are inside the venue area. This keeps the wall exclusive to attendees on site.
  • Venue Access PIN (If Required): If the venue uses a room PIN code, enter the 4-digit code shown on the venue wall screen or table cards.

2 Creating Your Social Badge & Profile

Your badge is how other patrons spot and recognize you in the venue:

  • Name / Nickname: Choose how you want to be introduced on the venue wall.
  • Photo or Avatar: Upload a quick selfie or pick one of our vibrant preset avatar icons.
  • ID HELP (Visual Cue): Add a friendly visual hint to help people spot you (e.g., "Black denim jacket near the main bar" or "Glasses sitting at table 4").
  • Interests & Bio: Share a quick sentence about your favorite drinks, music, or what brings you out tonight.
  • Instant Cookie Memory: Your browser securely remembers your badge for 1 year so you are recognized automatically at future BWS events!

3 Exploring the Live Wall & Matchmaking

  • Color-Coded Cards: Easily scan active patrons — Blue cards for Male, Pink for Female, and Purple for Unspecified profiles.
  • Filter & Search: Use quick tabs to filter by All Active, Women, Men, or search bios by keywords (e.g., "Techno", "Boardgames", "Gin").
  • Tap to Expand: Tap any profile to view full details, visual ID HELP cues, and social handles.

4 Interacting & Messaging Guidelines

  • Break the Ice: Use the visual ID HELP to walk over and say hello in person!
  • Direct Messaging (Where Enabled): In supported regions, send 1-to-1 icebreaker messages directly through the web wall app.
  • DACH Youth Protection Notice: In Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH region), 1-to-1 direct messaging is currently deactivated in compliance with youth protection legislation (JuSchG / JMStV) until integrated privacy-preserving 18+ age verification (EUDI Wallet) is launched.
  • AI Content Safety: All profiles and messages are monitored by real-time Modal/OpenRouter AI safety filters to ensure a safe, fun, pub-friendly atmosphere.

5 Safety & Respectful Conduct

  • Be Respectful: Harassment, hate speech, unwanted commercial advertising, or indecent uploads are strictly prohibited.
  • Instant Report & Removal: Venue hosts and automated AI filters immediately suspend non-compliant profiles.
  • Data Control: You can edit or leave the room at any time. When an event ends, active room profiles are automatically archived.
